UNIFIL announced in a statement that "a peacekeeper was injured last night after a patrol was attacked by a group of youths in the town of Tyre in southern Lebanon, and a vehicle was damaged in the incident." It considered that "attacks on the men and women serving the cause of peace are not only condemned but also constitute a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanese law. The freedom of movement for peacekeeping forces is vital as we work to restore security and stability along the Blue Line." They called on "the Lebanese authorities to conduct a thorough and swift investigation and bring all perpetrators to justice." They concluded, "UNIFIL peacekeepers continue their missions, and we will maintain our core work in monitoring and de-escalation."
