U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on Monday that the situation in the Middle East is the most dangerous since 1973. He pointed out that the proposed prisoner exchange agreement is "strong" and "persuasive," adding that "Hamas will have to make its own decisions." He emphasized that discussions on the release of hostages held in Gaza are important and "hopeful." Regarding allegations against UNRWA, he said, "America cannot investigate the allegations against UNRWA by itself, but it will carefully consider the steps taken by UNRWA to ensure a thorough investigation of the claims." He continued, "UNRWA must conduct an investigation, hold accountable those responsible, and review its procedures because the allegations are very disturbing." He stated that "the allegations against UNRWA are highly credible." Blinken confirmed: "We are determined to do everything possible to prevent the expansion of the conflict."
