Turkish Foreign Minister: Israel Rejects Ankara's Request to Airlift Aid to Gaza

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Monday that Israel rejected a request made by Turkey to join efforts to airlift humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza, and that Ankara will respond to Israel with "new measures." Fidan, in a statement to the media, said, "We also conveyed our request to join the humanitarian aid operation by the Turkish Air Force's cargo planes. We learned today that Israel rejected our request despite positive intervention from Jordanian authorities."

He added, "There is no excuse for Israel to prevent our attempt to deliver aid to the starving people of Gaza," stating that Turkey has decided to take "a series of new measures" against Israel. Fidan continued, without providing details, "These measures approved by our President will be implemented step by step without delay." He further stated that "the measures announced by our relevant institutions will continue until Israel declares a ceasefire and allows humanitarian aid to reach Gaza uninterrupted."
