"The UAE in Tan-Tan"... A Civilizational Message and a Pioneering Role in Preserving World Human Heritage

The participation of the United Arab Emirates for the seventh consecutive time in the "Tan-Tan Cultural Season" in the Kingdom of Morocco reflects its commitment to showcasing its civilizational and humanitarian message to the world, highlighting the richness of its cultural heritage and its exceptional efforts in preserving intangible heritage. This includes the inclusion of various elements of human heritage on the lists of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for intangible cultural heritage.

The UAE's participation in the "Tan-Tan Season" also symbolizes the deep fraternal ties between the UAE and the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as the peoples of the two brotherly countries. It emphasizes the importance of being present at this unique and historic cultural festival, which held its first season in 1963 and has achieved remarkable success over its various editions. It has been registered in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

The UAE launched its first participation in the Tan-Tan Cultural Season in 2014, being a guest of honor at the tenth edition of the season held under the slogan “Intangible Cultural Heritage and Its Role in Development and Bringing Peoples Together.” The heritage, cultural, and artistic activities presented by the UAE attracted thousands of visitors from various parts of the kingdom and all participating countries, contributing to the promotion of Emirati culture and heritage regionally and globally.

After a temporary halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tan-Tan Cultural Season returned this year. The UAE's participation in the sixteenth edition, held from July 7 to 12, is under the theme "Reinforcing Identity and a Driver for Sustainable Development," aiming to highlight the country’s rich and diverse heritage in sustainable practices and to introduce its cultural legacy in all its rich components.
