The head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, addressed U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken today, saying, "I hope he has drawn lessons from the past three months and realizes the extent of the mistakes made by the United States in supporting Israel." He stated, "We hope that the focus of the U.S. Secretary of State will be on ending the aggression, and we wish that the officials of Arab and Islamic countries meeting with Blinken emphasize that the future of the region is tied to the Palestinian issue, which cannot be overlooked, and our people and resistance will not accept the continuation of the occupation." He pointed out that "massacres and destruction cannot achieve security or stability as long as our people do not attain their freedom and an independent state with full sovereignty and its capital in Jerusalem."
