The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced that, as part of the specialized operations carried out by the Internal Security Forces to combat all types of crimes in various areas of Lebanon, information became available to the Information Branch regarding an unknown individual carrying out armed robbery operations in several areas of the Mount Lebanon and Beqaa governorates.
The directorate added in a statement that, following this, specialized units in the branch were tasked to conduct field and investigative measures to identify and arrest him. As a result of the investigations and searches, the branch was able to reveal his identity, identified as A. Z. (born in 1991, Lebanese). He has prior convictions for crimes including armed robbery, theft, car theft, drug trafficking, and shooting.
It noted that on 08-02-2024, through precise monitoring and surveillance, one of the branch patrols spotted him riding a motorcycle, where he was arrested in an ambush in the town of Hadath - Baabda, and the motorcycle was seized. Upon searching him, /6/ nylon envelopes containing hashish weighing /239/ grams, a rolling paper booklet, a black pouch, and a mobile phone were confiscated.
It further stated that during the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding committing multiple armed robbery operations and shooting incidents in various areas of Mount Lebanon and Beqaa, as well as his involvement in drug-related cases. Legal action was taken against him, and he, along with the seized items, was handed over to the relevant authority in accordance with the judiciary's instructions.
