The "Gathering of Employees, Workers, and Police in Lebanese Municipalities and Unions" has condemned, in a statement, the assault by military colleagues, whom they consider brothers, on their colleagues in the municipalities of Marjieh and Ghobeiri. This includes the confiscation of their motorcycles from within the premises of the Marjieh municipality and the seizure of a vehicle belonging to the Marjieh municipality. The most serious incident involved the dragging, kicking, and beating of a municipal police employee. All of these reckless actions are contrary to applicable laws.
They affirmed their support for their colleagues in the municipalities of Marjieh and Ghobeiri, as well as any municipality or union facing such aggression, and encouraged the mayors to act according to what they deem appropriate within the bounds of law, so that municipalities are not used as tools by anyone. They expressed that they will not be a means for others to exert power and hope that what happened serves as a lesson against repeating such mistakes.
