Public Notice: Identification of Pickpockets Targeting Worshippers Exiting Mosques

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division has announced that "in the context of the daily monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to reduce crimes in various Lebanese regions and apprehend those involved, the Information Branch has identified a group suspected of engaging in pickpocketing activities targeting worshippers as they exit mosques in Beirut and Mount Lebanon. Following intensive investigations and inquiries, this branch uncovered the identities of the group members, including: A.F. (born in 1998, without official registration) and B.H. (born in 1986, without official registration).

On December 24, 2023, after a careful surveillance operation, one of the Information Branch patrols managed to arrest them in the Sabra - Al-Rihab area. During the investigation, they confessed to their involvement, along with others, in numerous pickpocketing incidents targeting worshippers leaving mosques. Necessary legal actions were taken against them, and they were referred to the relevant authority, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining individuals involved.

Therefore, based on the court's indication, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces disseminates their images and requests that anyone who has fallen victim to their actions contact the Beirut Information Branch at the number 307728-01, in preparation for necessary legal measures."
