Today, Monday, the head of the "Kataeb" Party, MP Sami Gemayel, expressed his concerns about the potential extension of clashes, stating: "This possibility exists because there are numerous Palestinian camps, and the armed individuals can move from one camp to another, passing through Lebanese areas. This could lead to clashes either around the camps or on the roads." He emphasized that "when the country is uncontrolled and weapons are in everyone's hands, we will inevitably witness this type of tragedy," adding: "Lebanon is prone to this situation as weapons are unregulated, and all types of weapons can be obtained with the help of some Lebanese militias that possess these weapons." He continued: "Unfortunately, there is a nominal state in Lebanon and a de facto state represented by 'Hezbollah,' which makes all the decisions." In a lengthy phone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the latest developments in the Ain al-Hilweh camp, Gemayel stressed "the necessity of disarming the Palestinian camps and establishing the authority of the state, which is primarily a Palestinian demand."
