An Israeli official revealed that an Israeli delegation is expected to arrive in Qatar today, Monday, for talks on a new ceasefire agreement, according to the "New York Times." The newspaper added, citing the official, that the discussions in Qatar will be intensive, involving mediators to narrow the gaps in perspectives on reaching a temporary ceasefire agreement with Hamas and releasing hostages in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli official informed the American newspaper that Israel is expected to send a team from Mossad to discuss specific details, such as the identities of the hostages and the Palestinian prisoners slated for release.
The official pointed out that the delegation heading to Qatar will be led by Mossad Chief David Barnea, who led his country’s delegation in the Paris talks. Furthermore, the newspaper quoted an Egyptian official, who requested anonymity, stating that the Paris talks are expected to continue in Qatar and then in Cairo later on.
### New Proposal
These developments followed the revelation of some details about a new proposal put on the table regarding Gaza by a senior Israeli security official. He indicated that it includes a ceasefire for one day for each Israeli hostage released in Gaza. He also noted that the ceasefire could extend up to six weeks, with the expected release of 40 individuals, according to Israeli broadcasting authority reports. Additionally, ten Palestinian prisoners will be released for every Israeli prisoner freed by the Palestinian factions.
The agreement also entails Israel agreeing to allow displaced people from southern Gaza to return to their homes in the north, as well as the reconstruction of the strip. Israeli sources expressed optimism about reaching understandings before Ramadan, and there is a possibility of negotiations taking place in Cairo.
