The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced in a statement that "as part of the continuous follow-up carried out by the units of Internal Security Forces to pursue perpetrators of crimes in various Lebanese regions and apprehend them, information was received by the South Investigation Unit regarding a person engaging in fraud operations by misleading individuals into believing he could secure their travel to Germany and other European countries by sea or air in exchange for financial sums. Consequently, this unit intensified its investigative efforts on the matter. As a result of inquiries and investigations, and communication with the victims who were defrauded, this unit managed to identify the suspect, who is: A.H. (born in 1973, Palestinian). Following this, a patrol from the unit was able to lure the wanted person from the city of Beirut to the city of Sidon, where they set up in the seaside Corniche area, apprehended him, and arrested him. A portion of the amounts he had seized was returned to its owners, and the remaining sums will be repaid subsequently. The necessary legal procedures were taken against him, and he was referred to the relevant authority, in accordance with the directives of the competent judiciary."
