After holding Hamas responsible for obstructing a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and a deal for a prisoner exchange, the movement responded to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who arrived in Tel Aviv last night. A Hamas official stated that Blinken's comments regarding the ceasefire are an attempt to pressure the movement and absolve Israel. He also confirmed that Hamas is still considering the latest ceasefire proposal. This response came after Blinken claimed that Hamas is the "only reason" an agreement with Israel has not been reached. He added during a meeting today with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, "There are proposals on the table, and as we said, there are no delays or excuses; now is the time to return the captives to their families." For his part, Herzog stated that Israel hopes to receive a "clear" international stance regarding the issue of hostages held by Hamas, adding, "We hope for their immediate return, and this should be a priority for the international community." Blinken is expected to meet later today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and War Minister Benny Gantz.
