Syrian President Bashar al-Assad confirmed that the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was "an important figure on both regional and international levels," noting that "the Resistance Axis will never forget his support." In a phone call with acting Iranian President Mohammad Mokhber, Assad stated that the Syrian people see Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in the same light as the martyr Qassem Soleimani, as "fighters against oppression and unilateral policies in the world and advocates for the oppressed in the region." During the call, Assad announced that he would visit Tehran at the earliest opportunity to offer condolences and strengthen the relations between the two countries. Mokhber, for his part, emphasized the depth of the strategic relations between the two countries and the continued consultation and coordination between them.
