Tomorrow, Thursday, the athletics competitions will commence at the Al-Thiqah Club for the Disabled in the Emirate of Sharjah, as part of the Arab Women Sports Tournament, currently being held in its seventh edition under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Women Sports Foundation, and organized by the Sharjah Women Sports Foundation until February 12, with the participation of 560 athletes representing 63 teams from 15 countries competing for titles across eight Olympic sports.

The "Mother of Games" will see the participation of 104 athletes from 12 Arab countries, with the morning session starting from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, and the evening session running from 4:00 PM to 8:15 PM.

During the technical meeting for the championship, the timetable was presented, and all committees related to the sport, including the judiciary and eligibility committees, were confirmed, along with discussions on all technical aspects of the competitions.

Tunisian Sara Al-Tweibi, Vice President of the Arab Athletics Federation and Head of the Women’s Committee at the Arab Federation, as well as Vice President of the Tunisian Federation, stated: "This edition includes all races except for hurdles and the marathon, and most of the participating countries are from the Gulf region."

She added, "This version is expected to see the rise of new stars given the absence of many athletes from Maghreb countries, especially since we aspire for larger participation numbers. However, this tournament is designated for clubs, which limits participation compared to national teams."

Sara Al-Tweibi expressed gratitude to those organizing the tournament, which is one of the most significant events dedicated to Arab female athletes, emphasizing the importance of such competitions for providing more experience and competence for our girls in the future.
