The head of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, met in Maarab with French ambassador Hervé Magro, accompanied by political advisers Quentin Jeantet and Romain Calvary, in the presence of former Minister of Foreign Relations Richard Kouyoumjian and Tony Darwish from the department. The two sides discussed various developments in Lebanon and the region, particularly the war in Gaza, the escalation in southern Lebanon, and the risk of slipping into war, as well as the international efforts to spare Lebanon from this looming threat. The meeting also addressed the file of electing a president, the recent tour of French presidential envoy former Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian through the concerned Arab countries, coordination with the quintet committee regarding this matter, and the timing of his return to Lebanon. At the same time, the head of the Lebanese Forces emphasized that the solution lies in moving towards consecutive electoral sessions until a new president is elected; otherwise, the vacancy will continue to prevail, given the stubbornness of the opposing team and its insistence on placing its candidate in the presidential seat or it will continue to obstruct.
