Karky: Increase in Dialysis Session Fees

The Public Relations Directorate at the National Social Security Fund issued the following statement on Monday: "In light of its strong commitment to implement the Fund's policy of not imposing any financial burdens on dialysis patients, as this medical service is covered 100% by the insurance, and based on the Board of Directors' decision No. 1249 made in its session number 1012 dated 19/10/2023, which was ratified by the supervisory authority with decision 111/1 dated 30/10/2023, and after the increase of hospital, medication, and medical fees in June 2023, which included the fee for a dialysis session and doctors' fees, the Director General of the National Social Security Fund, Dr. Mohammad Karky, issued an information memo numbered 724 dated 30/10/2023. This memo mandated an increase in the fee for a dialysis session from 5,240,000 L.L. to 5,539,000 L.L., not including doctors' fees." The fee for the attending physician has also been adjusted to 893,000 L.L. for each session. This increase in the dialysis session fee that was approved today will take effect from 1/9/2023 on a settlement basis, aiming to consider the current financial situation and reflect the actual prices of imported medical supplies in hard currency. The director general urged all hospitals and doctors to fully comply with these fees and not to charge any financial differences from insured individuals for dialysis sessions, under the threat of appropriate measures against violators.
