Sounds of Digging in the West Bank Alert Israel... Are There Tunnels?

The "Yedioth Ahronoth" website revealed today, Tuesday, that investigation teams have been formed in response to reports of digging sounds in the Israeli town of Beit Hafir, located a few hundred meters from the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank. The site noted that so far, at least five groups have been formed for inspection operations without finding any tunnels. A team will be established under the central command of the Israeli army consisting of military and civilian experts who will conduct assessments based on intelligence information regarding the suspected presence of a tunnel. Israel has pursued various methods to neutralize tunnels, including installing pumps to flood them with Mediterranean seawater, destroying them with aerial strikes and liquid explosives, searching with dogs and robots, and demolishing their entrances to raid them with highly trained soldiers. Hamas claimed in 2011 that it had built a tunnel system spanning 500 kilometers, and although analysts suspect this figure is exaggerated, it is certain that the group has significantly expanded the network since then.
