Thefts and Pickpocketing in Mount Lebanon... Arrest in the Act

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced in a statement that "as part of the daily follow-up conducted by the Internal Security Forces to reduce theft and pickpocketing crimes in various Lebanese regions and pursuing the perpetrators for arrest, information was received by the Information Branch about an unknown person carrying out pickpocketing and theft operations in several areas of Mount Lebanon. Following this, orders were given to the branch to carry out field and intelligence measures to identify and arrest the individual.

As a result of extensive investigations and inquiries, the branch was able to identify him as H.K. (born in 1988, Lebanese). On 05/11/2023, after precise surveillance, one of the branch's patrols managed to arrest him in the act in the Haret Saida neighborhood while he was committing a theft from inside a commercial store in the mentioned area. They also seized a white motorcycle without license plates.

During the search of him and the motorcycle, a stolen wallet was found containing identification papers and documents, along with tools used in the theft: "a hammer and a screwdriver," among others, in addition to a mobile phone and a sum of money. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding committing numerous thefts from cars and commercial stores, as well as pickpocketing in various areas of Mount Lebanon. He also admitted to drug use.

Legal procedures were taken against him, and he was referred along with the seized items to the competent authority based on judicial instructions. The motorcycle was also legally seized."
