Moroccan Mohammedia: Where Are the Authorities Regarding the Chaos of Drawn Carriages?

Most neighborhoods and main streets of Mohammedia are experiencing manifestations of backwardness that fundamentally undermine the image of the City of Flowers, transitioning it, thanks to these disgraceful scenes, into a deserving title of an urban community. Despite the decision issued by the Mohammedia municipality prohibiting the circulation of drawn carriages within the urban area, the reality is different; dozens of drawn carriages freely roam the City of Flowers. These carriages obstruct the flow of traffic for both pedestrians and vehicles, in addition to the waste they leave behind as the animals wander through different neighborhoods of the city, contributing to the spread of foul odors.

Many of the owners of these drawn carriages are seen rummaging through trash bins, carrying plastic bags, and consuming a substance known as "silicon," presenting a disturbing sight, not to mention the chaos they cause around garbage containers while searching for leftover food and damaging several public amenities. This situation urgently calls for local authorities to intervene and confiscate these carriages, which give the impression that one has arrived in a remote village hundreds of kilometers away from the urban area, rather than in a city of one of the largest regions.

While there are multiple legal regulations in place to monitor and penalize the owners of drawn carriages, the safety of citizens is a shared responsibility among the municipal council, local authorities, and national security, who pass the responsibilities around each other, masking their inability to intervene by shifting the blame back and forth periodically.
