Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani emphasized the need to halt the attacks in Gaza today, while British Foreign Secretary David Cameron affirmed his country's support for efforts to prevent the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
The media office of the Prime Minister stated that "Sudani received a phone call today from the British Foreign Secretary, during which the bilateral relations between the two countries and the overall situation in the region were discussed."
Sudani stressed the "necessity of stopping the attacks in Gaza and the importance of international cooperation to prevent the escalation of conflict, noting that the repercussions of what is happening to the Palestinian people are affecting the situation across the region."
He expressed "Iraq's stance on the presence of the international coalition to fight ISIS in light of the growing capabilities of Iraqi forces, the defeat of terrorism, and the establishment of security and stability," reaffirming "the Iraqi government's commitment to securing foreign missions and embassies operating in Iraq, as well as protecting the locations of foreign advisors."
For his part, Secretary Cameron expressed "Britain's support for Iraq's security and stability and backing for efforts to prevent the escalation of conflict in the Middle East," emphasizing "his country's ongoing efforts to implement a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people."
The British Foreign Secretary also renewed condemnation of the Iranian military action that recently targeted Erbil.
