The Japanese Coast Guard announced today, Wednesday, that eight people have died due to the capsizing of a South Korean-flagged vessel off the coast of Japan. The tanker "Keoyoung Sun" was anchored due to bad weather and requested assistance after 7:00 AM on Wednesday (10:00 PM Tuesday GMT), reporting that the ship was tilting. The Japanese Coast Guard stated that it was carrying 980 tons of acrylic acid, with a crew consisting of two Koreans, eight Indonesians, and one Chinese national. The Keoyoung Sun capsized off Yamaguchi prefecture after the crew radioed for help today. The Japanese coast guard sent boats and aircraft to assist. The ship was reportedly at anchor because of stormy weather. Eight sailors have been rescued.
