The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) in England announced on Monday that assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis, who appeared to attempt to elbow Liverpool player Andy Robertson, will not officiate any matches while an investigation is conducted into the incident. The statement from PGMOL confirmed, "The committee will not appoint Hatzidakis to any fixtures while The FA investigates the incident involving the assistant referee and Liverpool defender Robertson at Anfield."
Liverpool's manager Jürgen Klopp, after the 2-2 draw with league leaders Arsenal, stated that he had not seen the incident, though he heard that "something had happened." A clip showed Robertson approaching Hatzidakis to protest at halftime of the match that took place on Sunday, where it appeared in video footage that the referee elbowed the player and continued on his way.
