A security source reported today, Thursday, that a young woman in her twenties was killed by a person riding a motorcycle in the Al-Yarmouk area of western Baghdad. The source stated that the girl worked at a café in Al-Yarmouk, according to a female friend who was with her. The source quoted the friend saying that the murderer spoke to the victim before opening fire with a pistol, resulting in her death. Later, in a statement regarding the incident, the Baghdad Operations Command indicated that an individual "riding a motorcycle" killed his sister under the pretext of "honor killing" by shooting her near the Al-Yarmouk recreational club in district 610, on the Karkh side. According to the statement, the perpetrator "fled the scene," noting that "the body has been transferred to the forensic medicine department, and our security forces are still pursuing the perpetrator to apprehend him and hand him over to the police station to receive just punishment according to the law."
