United States Plans to Deploy Weapons in Space

The United States plans to deploy weapons in space to attack satellites, according to the "New York Times," citing Pentagon officials. According to the newspaper, "Pentagon leaders refuse to provide any details about the project and only discuss their plans to achieve significant orbital capabilities by 2026." It added, "The United States has long had ground systems to target enemy communications and is now taking steps to upgrade them. As part of the new approach, the Pentagon is moving toward another goal: countering enemy threats in space." The newspaper noted that the secret military spaceplane "X-37B" may be equipped with weapons, in addition to efforts to develop a new generation of military satellites capable of maneuvering, refueling in space, and using weapons. It is worth mentioning that the U.S. administration accuses Russia and China of developing anti-satellite weapons.
