Death and Injury of 6 Children Due to Collapse of Two Houses in Basra

A security source stated today, Wednesday, in Basra Governorate, that "at 11:30, an explosion of a gas cylinder in a residential building in the Al-Najeebiya area led to the death of Raqiya Amjad Saad Shihab Al-Hamdani, age 15, and the injury of her brothers Hussein Amjad Saad Al-Hamdani, age 13, and Fatima Amjad Saad Shihab Al-Hamdani, age 18." Additionally, Hooraya Nasser Ali Nashmi Al-Shawqi, age 12, and her niece Benin Karar Nasser Ali Al-Shawqi, age 4, were killed, while the child's brother Haydar Karar Nasser Ali Nashmi Al-Shawqi, age 7, was injured. The source noted that "the damages were human and in the neighboring residences, and they do not wish to file a complaint against anyone after completing the procedures at the Al-Maqal police station." Meanwhile, eyewitnesses in the area denied identifying the real cause of the explosion, confirming that there are no signs of an exploded gas cylinder. The victims' families demanded investigations to determine the cause of the explosion, especially given the improbability that a gas cylinder could cause the collapse of two houses.
