Israeli media reported on Wednesday that an Israeli soldier who returned from the war in Gaza a few days ago fired at his comrades in a room due to a nightmare. Channel 12 and the Israeli Army Radio, along with the official broadcast authority, conveyed that a soldier who had been discharged from service in the Gaza Strip and was resting at an occupation army camp in Ashkelon experienced a panic attack. He woke up hysterically from a nightmare and began shooting inside the room.
Channel 12 noted that "an unusual incident occurred on Monday in a military holiday village in Ashkelon, when a soldier from the Paratroopers Brigade woke up in a panic after reportedly having a bad dream, firing at the wall of the room he was sleeping in and accidentally injuring several of his comrades."
The soldier told Channel 12: "I returned from Gaza and went to sleep in Kibbutz Ashkelon. Nightmares surrounded me until I woke up and started shooting at my colleagues like a madman, causing the death and injury of several of them, and I was transferred to psychological care."
Hebrew media pointed out that "the incident was reported to the military police, which opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident," adding that the Israeli army "decided not to investigate the soldier who fired at this stage, due to his health condition."
