The caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mouawad confirmed that "the arrests carried out by the security agencies are increasing and all crimes will be uncovered." In a press conference following a meeting dedicated to discussing the security situation in Beirut, he stated: "We reiterate and confirm that the issue of Syrian displacement does not come within the framework of incitement or racism, and the laws will be applied to everyone." Mouawad clarified that "the data file concerning the number of Syrian displaced persons was received by the General Security under a specific protocol, and we have asked all municipalities to conduct a census of the displaced within their jurisdiction, and they showed cooperation in this regard." He emphasized that "patrols will be intensified on the road to Rafic Hariri International Airport – Beirut, in cooperation with the Dahiyeh Battalion, and we will demand its lighting."
