The Israeli embassy in Stockholm closed its doors today, Friday, after a shooting occurred nearby early in the morning. Swedish police spokesperson Per Wahlström stated that "a police patrol heard loud explosions, suspected to be from gunfire. The area was cordoned off around 2 AM."
At 6:30 AM, the police announced that their investigations indicated a shooting had taken place in the area, but Wahlström did not comment on whether the Israeli embassy was the intended target of the suspected gunfire. While police officers searched the Israeli embassy for signs of gunfire, the police announced the start of a preliminary investigation into a "serious weapons-related crime." Wahlström mentioned that "a number of individuals have been arrested, without providing further details."
