At least five security personnel were killed, including the deputy chief of a police station, in attacks on security centers and Revolutionary Guard facilities in southern Iran, according to official media reports. The official news agency IRNA reported that a group calling itself the Army of Justice carried out attacks on the police station No. 11 in the city of Chabahar, resulting in the death of the deputy police chief and two other security personnel.
Ali Reza Marhamati, the deputy governor of Sistan and Baluchestan for security and law enforcement, announced that three security defenders have been killed so far due to the attacks that targeted several military headquarters in the south of the province on Wednesday evening.
In an interview with an IRNA reporter early Thursday, Marhamati stated, "Around 10:00 PM on Wednesday (6:30 PM GMT), several military facilities were attacked by a terrorist group in the cities of Rask and Chabahar (in Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran)."
He added, "With the readiness of military and police forces, the attackers were confronted, resulting in several of them being killed or injured." Marhamati also indicated that the security situation is under control and stated, "The group 'Army of Oppression' (the so-called Army of Justice), which is affiliated with the Zionists, has claimed responsibility for these terrorist attacks."
