Arrest of Members from Two Gangs Engaged in Car Theft and Transportation to Syria

As part of the continuous efforts by the Internal Security Forces to pursue and apprehend perpetrators of various crimes across all Lebanese territories, on April 21, 2024, following coordination between the operations rooms of Mount Lebanon and the North to track down a thief located in the al-Badawi area, who was using a stolen Hyundai Tucson SUV, a force from the North Investigation Detachment of the Regional Gendarmerie headed to the mentioned location. They managed to seize the vehicle and arrest its driver, identified as W. H. (born in 1994, Syrian).

The investigation revealed his connection to two groups involved in transporting stolen cars towards Syrian territories. Immediately, a tight trap was set for the members of these gangs in al-Badawi, resulting in the arrest of: W. A. (born in 1999, Lebanese), his wife F. S. (born in 2004, Syrian), M. T. (born in 2003, Syrian), and M. J. (born in 2005, Syrian) in a Mercedes car that was seized. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities found 459 Captagon pills, a quantity of marijuana, a knife, and 100 counterfeit US dollars.

Following up, another unit from the detachment in the al-Maloula area arrested: K. B. (born in 1999, Lebanese) and his brother T. B. (born in 2009, Lebanese). A search of them revealed a loaded firearm. During interrogation, T. B. stated that he was also attempting to transport the vehicle to the Lebanese-Syrian border. Legal action was taken against them, and they were referred to the relevant authority based on the court’s instructions.
