The Saudi Authority for Combating Corruption announced on Sunday the suspension of Amr bin Saleh Abdulrahman Al-Madani, the CEO of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula. A responsible source stated that Al-Madani was suspended due to his involvement in crimes of abuse of office and money laundering, having obtained contracts for the National Talents Company (of which he is one of the owners) from the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy in an unlawful manner, during the period prior to his employment in the government through a relative. The total amount involved was 206 million, 630 thousand, and 905 riyals.
Additionally, after joining the government workforce, he made a nominal exit from the company while still retaining ownership and was seen recommendating it to the responsible departments of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula, which enabled it to obtain projects totaling one million, 298 thousand, and 923 riyals. The source also stated that Al-Madani received personal benefits from companies contracted with the commission, and his profits from these projects were funneled to him through a relative, Muhammad bin Suleiman Muhammad Al-Harbi, who has also been arrested and admitted to receiving funds from the company and its owners for passing them on to Al-Madani, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The source further added that Al-Madani's business partners in the company, citizens Said bin Atif Ahmed Said and Jamal bin Khalid Abdullah Al-Dabal, who have also been arrested, acknowledged their awareness and agreement with the CEO regarding the aforementioned incidents. He noted that procedures are underway to complete legal actions against those mentioned, as required by regulations and instructions, and they will be referred to the judiciary.
The authority confirmed its commitment to monitoring and apprehending anyone who encroaches on public funds or exploits their position for personal benefit or to harm the public interest, emphasizing its determination to apply the law against violators without leniency.
