Earthquake of Magnitude 5.9 Strikes the Philippines Coast

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre announced today, Friday, that "an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 has struck the coast of the Philippines." According to the report, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 63 km southeast of the city of Tacloban on the island of Leyte, where 242,000 people reside. It added that "the epicenter was at a depth of 94 km beneath the sea surface."
