Random Gunfire Burns Al-Lazab Forest in Northern Lebanon

A fire broke out in the grassy lands of Al-Lazab forest in the heights of Jabal Al-Aswad, northern Lebanon, at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level, leading to the burning of part of the forest. The rapid intervention team from the "Darb Akkar" association managed to control the fire and extinguish it, preventing its spread. A firefighting vehicle from the civil defense is currently working to cool the site to prevent re-ignition.

The head of the agriculture department in Akkar governorate, Taha Al-Mustafa, who inspected the fire, indicated that "the cause of the fire was due to some individuals firing incendiary bullets purely for amusement." He expressed hope that the municipality of Mashmouch and the military intelligence would "put an end to those who engage in random gunfire in this area." Taha called on the forest rangers in the region to "approach the fire site, investigate what happened, and prepare a report based on their observations."
