The Arab League: The Palestinian Issue Remains Central to Arab Action

The Arab League confirmed that the Palestinian issue remains a central focus of Arab action, particularly as it has brought together Arab nations from across the region since 1948. In a statement issued today, Friday, marking the 79th anniversary of its establishment, titled "The Road is Still Long. The Palestinian Issue is the Most Important," it stated that the aggression against Gaza has revealed the brutality of the occupation and the blatant imbalance of global standards, which necessitates restoring the centrality of the issue, both among the peoples and the Arab states.

The statement indicated that this anniversary recalls a long path and a lengthy journey that Arab states and peoples have undertaken to strengthen their relations and coordinate their positions in facing enormous challenges from both inside and outside. It explained that Arab countries chose, since the establishment of the League, a gradual institutional approach to achieve coordination and cooperation among their governments across all political, economic, social, and cultural fields, emphasizing that it remains the only framework encompassing various institutional pathways for joint Arab action.

The Arab League's General Secretariat underscored the necessity of collective action as the only way to confront the challenges facing the region, noting that Arab states cannot move individually in a world trending towards bloc formations that recognize only major entities. The Arab League called for increased efforts and collaboration to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of the brutality of occupation and to realize their right to establish an independent state.
