Blinken: The Only Obstacle Between Gaza Residents and a Ceasefire is "Hamas"

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the "Hamas" movement is the "only obstacle between the people of Gaza and a ceasefire" with Israel. Blinken added at the Sedona Forum organized by the McCain Institute in Arizona: "We are waiting to see if they can actually answer yes regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages." He noted, "The reality at this moment is that the only obstacle between the people of Gaza and a ceasefire is Hamas." Blinken also reiterated his warnings about a major Israeli assault on the densely populated city of Rafah in Gaza, pointing out that Israel has not provided a plan to protect civilians. He stated, "In the absence of such a plan, we cannot support a major military operation in Rafah, as the damage it will cause exceeds acceptable limits."
