The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced the transfer of the bodies of employees from the "Global Central Kitchen" organization, who were targeted by an Israeli airstrike two days ago in central Gaza, to the Rafah border crossing. The Red Crescent stated on Wednesday that six bodies had arrived at the crossing.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent, Nibal Farisakh, commented on the incident saying, "The silence of the international community allows this to happen, and it is unacceptable to see relief workers lose their lives while performing their duties." She added, "How many more people must be killed before the international community urgently intervenes to provide and ensure protection for relief workers?"
Seven employees from the U.S.-based "Global Central Kitchen" organization were killed during the Israeli targeting while working in the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza the day before yesterday. According to the organization, the deceased were from "Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, and dual citizens from the United States and Canada, in addition to Palestinians."
Meanwhile, the Israeli army expressed its "regret" over the employees' deaths, stating that they were killed "unintentionally."
