The police in the Makkah region have arrested two Egyptian residents for publishing misleading fake Hajj campaign advertisements on social media, aimed at fraud and deception, claiming to provide housing for pilgrims. Legal procedures have been taken against them, and they have been referred to the public prosecution due to their actions. Saudi Arabia had previously warned against falling for fake Hajj advertisements, urging citizens and residents not to respond to misleading advertisements on social media regarding performing the Hajj for others, securing sacrifices for pilgrims, distributing them, selling Hajj bracelets, or even providing transportation and other deceptive ads for the purpose of fraud through fictitious individuals and institutions. The authorities emphasized the enforcement of legal penalties against those caught.
