Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has postponed all his foreign visits amid the continuing deterioration of the battlefield situation on Wednesday. Kyiv reported that clashes are intense in the town of Vovchansk, located on the northeastern border in the Kharkiv region. Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Dmytro Lazutkin stated that "some Russian infantry forces entered the town, which military analysts believe Moscow needs to control in order to continue its offensive deeper into the region." The General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces were later able to "partially" drive the Russian forces out of the town, but "defensive operations" continued in the northern and northwestern suburbs. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that "its forces had captured two new towns in the area about 25 kilometers from the outskirts of Kharkiv city." The seizure of the town, located just five kilometers from the border, would represent the most significant gain for Russia since its incursion into the Kharkiv region on Friday, opening a new front in its invasion and forcing Kyiv to send reinforcements. This attack has contributed to the ongoing fatigue, attrition, and imbalance faced by Ukrainian forces ahead of a major Russian offensive in the coming weeks, according to Zelensky.
