This prize, now the fifth largest in the game's history according to lottery officials, has been steadily growing since the last winner of the jackpot on New Year's Day 2024. There have been 37 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. Lottery officials stated that if the winner chooses to accept the prize as a lump sum, its value would be approximately $452.3 million. This amount is still significantly lower than the jackpot from another lottery drawing, Mega Millions, which exceeded $1.1 billion. It is also far less than the largest single lottery prize in U.S. history, which occurred in November 2022 when a sole ticket holder in California won a Powerball jackpot of $2.04 billion. To win the lottery, the winner or winners must match the six correct numbers on a $2 ticket. The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 292.2 million. The drawing will take place on Saturday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time (3:59 AM GMT).
