Yasin Aktaş, advisor to the President of the Turkish Justice and Development Party, revealed that the Turkish Chief of Staff, Metin Gürak, discussed with his Egyptian counterpart, Osama Askar, the establishment of arms factories in Egypt. Aktaş stated that "both parties, Egypt and Turkey, have lost from severing relations, and now they have started to notice this after the meeting of Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, which established relations at all levels, whether in trade or the defense sector." Turkish media reported on Monday that Gürak held closed discussions with his Egyptian counterpart, without disclosing further details. Aktaş added in a statement to the Arabic World News Agency (AWP): "Both parties (Egypt and Turkey) have lost from severing relations, and now they have started to notice this after the meeting of Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, which established relations at all levels, whether in trade or the defense sector."
