The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Saturday: "On March 5, 2024, one citizen reported that unknown individuals broke into his house located in the Tyre - Jal al-Bahr area and stole $190,000 and 10 ounces of gold, then fled to an unknown location. Immediately, the specialized units of the Internal Security Forces began their field and investigative measures to uncover the perpetrators of the theft and arrest them. As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, the identities of those involved in this operation were identified, including the mastermind, known as A. Q. (born 1977, Lebanese).
On March 15, 2024, after careful surveillance, one of the patrols managed to arrest him in Sidon at the seaside corniche, in a dark blue SUV. Part of the stolen amount, estimated at approximately $107,000, along with 10 gold ounces, 3 hunting rifles, and a quantity of gold valued around $8,000, which he had purchased with the stolen money, were seized. During the investigation, he confessed to his participation, along with another person, in carrying out the aforementioned theft. Legal proceedings were initiated against him, and he was detained along with the seized items and the vehicle, based on the directives of the relevant judiciary. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplice."
