Shock in Egypt: Death of a Child at School

In a sad incident that shocked both students and teachers, a 13-year-old Egyptian student in the first preparatory grade died yesterday, Tuesday, at a private school in the city of Al Mahalla in the Gharbia governorate. The student suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and severe drop in blood circulation during the physical education class in the school yard. Mona Atta, the director of the West Al Mahalla Educational Administration, stated in press remarks that she received a notification from the school administration about the student, Youssef Abdel Salam Al Jamal, fainting and experiencing extreme fatigue during the school day and the physical education class. The student was transferred to a private hospital for necessary treatment and medical care to investigate the causes and circumstances of the incident. However, after two hours in the hospital, the student breathed his last. The school expressed its condolences in a statement, and the funeral was held today, Wednesday, in the Republic area of Al Mahalla, attended by thousands of local residents and many classmates who participated in the burial of the student at his family's cemetery in Greater Al Mahalla.
