Cunning Ambush: Thief Arrested

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division announced in a statement that "as part of the daily monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to limit crimes of theft and pickpocketing and to arrest those involved, information was received about an unidentified individual executing pickpocketing operations from inside vehicles in the regions of Mount Lebanon. The latest incident occurred on 07-03-2024 in the area of Furn al-Shaback, where an unknown person snatched a citizen's bag from inside her car and fled to an unknown location. Following this, specialized units in the Information Branch intensified their field investigations to uncover the identity of the suspect. As a result of intensive inquiries and investigations, they managed to identify the individual as: A. M. (born in 1983, Lebanese), who has a criminal history involving theft, robbery, pickpocketing, drug offenses, firearm offenses, and issuing bad checks.

On 10-03-2024, after meticulous observation and monitoring, one of the branch's patrols was able to arrest him in a well-planned ambush in the area of Sabra while he was on a black motorcycle without license plates, which was found to be stolen and was confiscated. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding his involvement in numerous pickpocketing incidents, including the one mentioned in Furn al-Shaback, using the motorcycle that was seized. He admitted that he had purchased it from an individual inside the Sabra camp and also confessed to drug use. Legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the competent authority based on a court order."
