The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Tuesday: "As part of the continuous efforts by the Internal Security Forces to reduce armed robbery incidents in various Lebanese regions, specialized units have intensified their patrols in areas where these operations are frequent to identify and arrest those involved.
As a result of field monitoring and investigative efforts conducted by the Information Division, they succeeded in identifying the mastermind of a gang whose members impersonate security personnel and rob citizens at gunpoint while using a motorcycle. His name is M.N., born in 1986, a Lebanese citizen with a criminal record involving armed robbery, theft, drugs, and assault on a military facility.
On February 2, 2024, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the division's patrols managed to apprehend him in the act in the Hazmieh area while he was committing a robbery against a citizen using a weapon.
During the investigation, he confessed to carrying out more than 15 armed robbery operations in collaboration with another individual posing as security personnel, including in areas like the Kuwaiti embassy, Galeri Samaan, Al-Sayyad, and most recently in Hazmieh where he was arrested.
Legal procedures have been initiated against him, and he has been referred to the competent authority based on the judiciary's directive. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplice."
