Beirut Guards: Arrest of 4 Individuals in Possession of Drugs and a War Pistol

The Public Relations Department of the Beirut Municipality announced in a statement: "On 20-9-2023, at approximately 20:50, a patrol from the Beirut City Guard arrested two individuals on a motorcycle of the 'Bart' brand, light beige color, without plates, in Hamra Street near the Diwan Building, due to suspicion. They were: - Y. S. (born in 2004, Syrian) - H. M. (born in 2001, Syrian). Upon searching them and the motorcycle, two bags of the drug 'Silvia' were found. They were handed over along with the motorcycle and seized items to the Ras Beirut police station in Habish for legal action following an order from Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud."

"Additionally, a patrol from the Beirut Guards arrested a person on a black 'FS' motorcycle without plates in the Ain el-Mreiseh seaside area of Beirut due to suspicion. He did not carry any identification documents, claiming to be Lebanese, only to later be found to be of Syrian nationality and under the influence of a drug at the time of arrest. During the arrest, information was received by the patrol that he had previously handed over a war pistol to another individual about 80 meters away. Immediately, patrol members approached the suspected person and apprehended him. Upon searching him, a 9mm war pistol was seized. It later emerged that both were wanted for armed robbery. Consequently, following the directive of the brigade commander, they were handed over along with the seized items and motorcycle to a Lebanese Army Intelligence patrol for legal proceedings against them."
