Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry Announces Discovery of French Ambassador's Body at Residence

The Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry announced yesterday that the French Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Jean-François Pactet, was found dead at his residence in Colombo. The ministry did not specify the cause of death for the French diplomat; however, the "Daily Mirror" reported that the cause was a heart attack. Police spokesperson D.G. Nehal Thaldwa stated that the ambassador was found dead in his residence this morning and had not left his room that day. Upon examination, he was discovered to be deceased. The Welikada Police are investigating the incident, and an autopsy is scheduled to be conducted.
