Information Branch Arrests Motorcycle Theft Gang

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Monday: "As part of the ongoing efforts of the Internal Security Forces to reduce motorcycle thefts in various Lebanese regions, information was obtained by the Information Branch regarding an individual offering stolen motorcycles for sale via the "Facebook" application after forging their documents.

Following this, orders were given to the branch's units to carry out field and investigative procedures to identify the user of the electronic page on the mentioned application, along with others involved in the theft and sale of motorcycles, and to arrest them. As a result of the investigations and inquiries, the branch was able to identify their identities, including: T. S. (born in 1977, Lebanese), who is the user of the Facebook page; and S. A. (born in 1999, Lebanese), who has a criminal history related to theft.

After further investigation, it was revealed that the former was using a location in Shweifat to hide the stolen motorcycles, which were then offered for sale on Facebook. On February 26, 2024, after meticulous surveillance, one of the branch's patrols raided the aforementioned location in Shweifat, arrested him, and seized 10 stolen motorcycles. Simultaneously, the latter was arrested in the "Gallery Simaan" area while riding a stolen motorcycle, along with another motorcycle he intended to sell to the first.

During the investigation, T. S. confessed that he buys motorcycles from S. A. and sells them via his Facebook page for an attractive offer. The second individual also confessed that he purchases motorcycles from someone who owns a motorcycle warehouse in the Sabra area, at tempting prices, fully aware that they are stolen.

Immediately, one of the branch's patrols executed a raid on the mentioned warehouse in Sabra and seized 5 stolen motorcycles inside. Legal action was taken against the two arrested individuals, who were referred to the appropriate authority, and the seized motorcycles will be returned to their owners based on the instructions of the competent judiciary. Work is ongoing to arrest the remaining perpetrators."

Again... the Information Branch has arrested a motorcycle theft gang where one of its members uses Facebook to display stolen motorcycles for sale.
