The first meeting of the Saudi-Chinese-Iranian joint tripartite committee concluded in Beijing on Friday evening. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a collective meeting with the heads of the Saudi and Iranian delegations. The meeting was chaired by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li to follow up on the Beijing Agreement, with the Saudi delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Walid bin Abdul Karim Khreiji, and the Iranian delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani. The meeting reviewed the positive outcomes achieved in the relationships between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of the Beijing Agreement reached between the two countries under the auspices of the People's Republic of China last March. Both the Saudi and Iranian sides expressed their full commitment to implementing the Beijing Agreement. The Chinese side confirmed its readiness to continue playing a constructive role and supporting both the Saudi and Iranian sides in taking further steps towards enhancing their relations. The three parties discussed aspects of tripartite cooperation in various fields. They expressed their concern over the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip as a threat to security and peace in the region and internationally, emphasizing the urgent need for an immediate halt to military operations in Gaza, sustainable relief for civilians, and opposition to the forcible displacement of Palestinians. The three parties affirmed that any arrangement regarding the future of Palestine must reflect the will of the Palestinian people and support the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state and determine their own destiny. The participants confirmed the continuation of the joint tripartite committee meetings, deciding that the next meeting will be held in June 2024 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in response to its gracious invitation.
