The Israeli war council has given the green light to send a delegation to Qatar soon to continue discussions that took place in recent days in Paris, aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza that includes the release of hostages, according to officials and local media. Meanwhile, the Israeli army continued to bomb the Palestinian sector on Saturday, amid growing fears of famine due to a lack of vital aid.
The war council in Israel met on Saturday night after the Israeli delegation returned from talks in Paris to discuss the release of hostages and a ceasefire agreement in the war against Hamas. An Israeli delegation headed by Mossad chief David Barnea went to Paris on Friday to follow up on a ceasefire plan discussed in the French capital at the end of January with their American and Egyptian counterparts and the Prime Minister of Qatar.
Tsahi Hanegbi, the national security advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stated on Saturday evening to Israel's "Channel 12", "The delegation returned from Paris, there may be room to move towards an agreement." He added before the war council meeting on Saturday night that "the delegation requested to inform the war council of the results from the Paris summit, and for this reason, the war council will meet tonight via phone."
Israeli media reported late at night that the war council concluded its meeting with the green light to send a delegation to Qatar in the coming days to continue negotiations aimed at agreeing on a ceasefire for several weeks, which includes the release of hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
