Al-Takiya: The Choice of Thousands of Fasting Individuals in Rafah

In long lines for hours, thousands of Gazans stand in front of the "Takiya" in the Al-Shabura camp in the city of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, to receive an iftar meal for the fasting individuals amid a crisis of food and cooking gas shortages. The "Takiya," which was once a symbol of the Palestinians' efforts to provide food for a small number of impoverished individuals, has become a primary source for tens of thousands to obtain food amidst the ongoing war in Gaza. Gazans, many of whom are crowded in the city of Rafah after being displaced from other areas due to Israeli military attacks, are suffering from a scarcity of food and basic supplies, in addition to the significant rise in prices of available goods.
